Encrypted vault vs Apple Health vs a Notion database

Apple Health stores measurements. Notion stores notes. Neither is an encrypted specialist panel that cannot be read by the operator.

Published August 24, 2026. Personal health tool — not medical advice.

Three products, three jobs

People already keep health information in Apple Health, a notes app, or a Notion database. Those are good tools. They are not an encrypted, operator-blind specialist panel.

Apple Health

Apple Health is excellent at measurements from a phone and watch: steps, heart rate, some clinical records if your health system supports it. It is not designed as a place to hold scanned imaging CDs, pharmacist-style medication lists you typed, and a multi-agent consult over that file.

DoctorVault does not sync Apple Health today. If that is your source of truth for vitals, keep it. Use the vault for the documents and questions Health was never meant to debate.

Notion, Drive folders, and spreadsheets

A personal wiki is flexible. It is also plaintext (or workspace-plaintext) sitting in another SaaS, with sharing links, AI features that send pages to a model, and no recovery-kit threat model. Fine for recipes. Awkward for a full metabolic panel.

DoctorVault is stricter: encryption before upload, no server copy, no “reset my password.” That strictness is the product. It is also why we tell you to try the demo before you commit a bucket.

What “encrypted vault” actually changes

In Apple Health and Notion, the operator of the platform can be compelled, breached, or staffed into your data according to their policies. In DoctorVault, ciphertext lives in your Drive or S3; keys stay with you. The remaining trust is the code we serve — which is why we publish a network-tab verification instead of a slogan.

Choose Health for sensors, Notion for life admin, DoctorVault for the medical file you do not want in a chatbot or a wiki.

Try it in the demo vault

No account. Nothing is saved when you close the tab. Add a couple of sample records, ask the panel one question, then read how to verify that our servers never see the contents.
